Reprogram The Dissident

We don't incarcerate or execute dissidents - that just makes martyrs and stirs up more dissent. We prefer to make use of medical technology to reprogram them into obedient servants of the state. Firstly, electronic implants are surgically attached to the brain. The patient is then kept in a coma whilst the skull heals and cosmetic procedures are performed. The implants are then connected to a computer, allowing the dissident's memories to be erased and artificial ones downloaded. The dissident will awake quite literally as a new person.
